THE TALE OF CPACDC'S CREATION:
It was a dark and stormy night.

The Central Pennsyvania Australian Cattle Dog Club was founded in February of 2009.  It emerged as an offshoot of the Bull Run Australian Cattle Dog Club which had existed since 1994 as a club serving members in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania with interested members from elsewhere in the Mid-Atlantic region as well.  Over time, the membership of Bull Run became too spread out for it to efficiently hold meetings that would draw a sufficient number of dedicated, active members and the decision was made to consolidate a smaller club for Pennsylvania in order to pursue AKC accreditation and the ability to hold AKC events.

Founding members, Barb Finegan, Rebecca Elder and Lee Kephart, envisioned a club where every member would contribute and assist at club functions therefore spreading the burden of maintaining the new club over the entire membership and giving members a sense of ownership and control over their club.

With a more regional approach and tighter focus, it will be possible to hold events that members can attend locally rather than traveling to a distant state. It is the goal of the club to support conformation, herding and obedience as well as social events, but it is not the goal of the club to exclude other venues if there are willing and able volunteers to direct those activities.

April 11, 2009: BRACDC club members approved the reorganization of BRACDC into CPACDC. This was approved via unanimous vote at BRACDC's Annual Meeting in Harrisburg, PA.

CPACDC was incorporated in Pennsylvania as a non-profit in May, 2009.

OUR MISSION:
The Central Pennsylvania Australian Cattle Dog Club is a non-profit, volunteer club that strives to encourage excellence in the purebred Australian Cattle Dog, and to promote the ACD in many venues including herding competitions, obedience and conformation events, as well as providing support and networking for ACD owners in the Central PA region.
